Vice Presidents

JANE PAULEY: Colfax, Hendricks, Fairbanks, Marshall, and Quayle, five Hoosiers elected vice president. Indiana has been a critical swing state and ten Hoosiers picked for the national ticket.

JANE PAULEY: Schuyler Colfax was Speaker of the House in Washington before serving as General Grant’s vice president. Governor Thomas Hendrix was Grover Cleveland’s running mate.

Portraits of Fairbanks, Marshall, and Quail are shown.

JANE PAULEY: Charles Fairbanks was elected with Teddy Roosevelt. Governor Thomas Marshall was Woodrow Wilson’s VP and in 1988 senator Dan Quayle was elected with George H.W. Bush. Each served the country well but it was Marshall who said “What this country needs is a really good five cent cigar.”
