NARRATOR: This Indiana Bicentennial minute is made possible by the Indiana Historical Society and law firm of Krieg DeVault.

Black and white images are shown of Harry and Albert Von Tilzer.

PAULEY: They were among the first of a long line of great Hoosier songwriters, the Von Tilzer brothers, Harry and Albert. Tilzer was their mother’s maiden name, they added Von to “class it up.” Part of Tin Pan Alley, the composers and publishers who wrote much of popular music of the 20th century. Their songs are over 100 years old, but we still sing them today.

Sheet music of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” is shown.

PAULEY: Among Harry’s big hits, “Wait until the Sun Shines, Nelly” is sung every Christmas Eve on the New York Stock Exchange.
