History should not be viewed – it should be experienced. You can help people make a real connection with the past by volunteering at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. From interacting with our guests to working with our historic collections, IHS has a volunteer opportunity that’s right for you.
Upcoming volunteer needs:
National History Day Indiana 2020 – NHDI is an educational program that encourages students in grades four through 12 to explore history that interests them. Participants express their creativity and historical analysis through performances, documentaries, websites, papers and exhibits.
NHDI Volunteer Judges
Investigation Stations take place during school and group tours. The facilitator will engage students and teachers in a guided activity about primary and secondary sources.
This position is responsible for greeting visiting groups and introducing students to the new experiences at Indiana Historical Society. This position will accompany groups during their visit and lead groups from location to location.
Special Events Volunteer
Greet guests, collect tickets or help with crafts and other activities at special events, workshops, lectures and performances.
Basile History Market
Lend at hand in the Basile History Market – no retail experience required.

Assist conservation technicians in preserving and caring for the collections.
