We'd love to have you

History should not be viewed – it should be experienced. You can help people make a real connection with the past by volunteering at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. From interacting with our guests to working with our historic collections, IHS has a volunteer opportunity that’s right for you.

Upcoming volunteer needs:

Concerts on the Canal

Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, tear down, visitor questions, and crowd flow during our annual Concerts on the Canal. Concerts will take place rain or shine every Thursday in June and July. Volunteers are needed from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.

History Train

Indiana Historical Society is once again bringing our History Train exhibit to the State Fair. Visitors can step inside this redesigned train and learn about some of our very own Hoosier entrepreneurs…but we need your help!

Volunteers are needed to help with questions and crowd flow in two shifts: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 4 to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend shifts will be 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 2 to 8:30 p.m. Volunteers will be both indoors and outdoors with access to chairs, drinks and snacks. The exhibit will be open from August 3 through the 19. Admission to the fair provided.
