History should not be viewed – it should be experienced. You can help people make a real connection with the past by volunteering at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. From interacting with our guests to working with our historic collections, IHS has a volunteer opportunity that’s right for you.

Concerts on the Canal
Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, tear down, visitor questions, and crowd flow during our annual Concerts on the Canal. Concerts will take place rain or shine every Thursday in June and July. Volunteers are needed from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Indiana Historical Society is once again bringing our History Train exhibit to the State Fair. Visitors can step inside this redesigned train and learn about some of our very own Hoosier entrepreneurs…but we need your help!
Volunteers are needed to help with questions and crowd flow in two shifts: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 4 to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend shifts will be 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 2 to 8:30 p.m. Volunteers will be both indoors and outdoors with access to chairs, drinks and snacks. The exhibit will be open from August 3 through the 19. Admission to the fair provided.
Investigation Stations take place during school and group tours. The facilitator will engage students and teachers in a guided activity about primary and secondary sources.
This position is responsible for greeting visiting groups and introducing students to the new experiences at Indiana Historical Society. This position will accompany groups during their visit and lead groups from location to location.
Special Events Volunteer
Greet guests, collect tickets or help with crafts and other activities at special events, workshops, lectures and performances.
Basile History Market
Lend at hand in the Basile History Market – no retail experience required.
