Historian and author Dr. James H. Madison, the Thomas and Kathryn Miller Professor Emeritus of History at Indiana University, provides a look at what it was like for Indiana’s earliest pioneers. We unpack the various characters, values and ethnicities that led to our regional identification as the Midwest as we navigate the events, people and times that helped craft the culture of the Hoosier State.
