Angel Tree: Make the Holidays Brighter for a Child in Need

The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program goes back decades, but through the years, its purpose has remained the same: to share the joy of Christmas with struggling families. In Central Indiana, more than 5,300 children living below the poverty line benefitted from an Angel Tree last year. Numbers are expected to grow in 2019, and The Salvation Army needs your help to make sure none of these “Angels” are left behind.

“Angel Tree is a unique program,” says Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army Maj. Bob Webster. “Families come to us with more than just a list of toys. They also share their child’s greatest needs, like shoes, diapers – or even a bed. These Christmas wishes go on a tag that’s hung on an Angel Tree until a donor chooses the Angel and fills a bag with gifts chosen just for that child. There’s just nothing else like it.”

A very special Angel Tree stands in the Basile Welcome Center at the History Center so Festival of Trees guests can be a part of this remarkable program. Its unique tags allow you to adopt an Angel through a website. Once your shopping is done, you can bring the gifts to the History Center, to a Salvation Army location or to any other place there is an Angel Tree in Indianapolis.
