Holiday Cheers

Gather your family around the computer and join us for a bit of holiday fun during the holiday season. Each holiday cheers event includes a live virtual program, and a kit with hands-on activities, recipes, games or festive elements to enjoy during the event.

Sugarplum Saturday

Keep your family’s Nutcracker tradition going with a morning of magic. Hear the stories behind the iconic ballet, enjoy a virtual dance lesson from The Dance Refinery, chat with a ballerina, and complete a nutcracker-themed craft.

$25 | $20 members. Ticket includes online program and one activity kit. Additional kits available for purchase at $10 each. Kits can be picked up at the Indiana Historical Society December 1 to 5 or mailed for an additional $10 per kit.

Presented with support from the Dance Refinery and Lake City Bank

Frequently Asked Questions

What age is this program best for?

We think that kids of all ages will enjoy this program, but it was designed with families ages 4 to 12 in mind.

What is included in my kit?

One kit is included with your registration. Your kit will include treats for one, including hot cocoa, stickers, candy cane, and button; two ballet-themed crafts; and access to live, virtual program including short dance lesson and nutcracker-themed activity instruction.

Holiday Cheers tickets do not include admission to Festival of Trees at the Indiana Historical Society. If you’d like to visit the exhibition during operating hours, you will need to purchase an advanced admission ticket.

How do I safely receive get my kit?

You have two options to get your kit, which you can select upon purchase:

  • Pick-up your kit in the Welcome Center at the Indiana Historical Society (450 West Ohio Street, Indianapolis) Dec 1 to 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Dec 4 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Masks are required while in building.
  • Have your kit mailed for additional $10 per kit. Kits will be mailed by December 5.

What additional materials are needed to complete the program?

Nearly everything is included with your kit, but we will mark what isn’t included. You may need to provide your own scissors or find additional decorating materials from around your house.

Do I need one kit for each child in my family?

Each kit includes materials for one of each craft. Families can work alone or as a group, whichever works best. You may opt to purchase additional kits during registration.
