Join IHS staff, historian Jeannie Regan-Dinius of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Indiana Landmarks Director of Heritage Education and Information, Suzanne Stanis, as we explore religious architecture in Indiana.
We’ll travel to Historic Camp Chesterfield which dates back more than 120 years. Located just outside Anderson, the historic home of the Indiana Association of Spiritualists boasts clairvoyants, mediums and other spiritual healers. You’ll discover the storied history of spiritualism in Indiana, explore the historic architecture and learn about the work of Indiana Landmarks to rescue this meaningful place. Other planned stops include tours of Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, with its neo-gothic design and stained-glass windows, and the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation which features a mid-century inspired temple completed in 1958.
Presentations will be made throughout the trip. Fees cover transportation via coach, admission fees, lunch and snacks.
Please consider registering early as space is limited to the first 45 participants. The registration fee is $75 for IHS or Indiana Landmarks members and $125 for nonmembers (a one-year IHS Individual membership is included). Registrations must be received by Aug. 15.
