Frequently Asked Questions

What age is this program best for?

We think that kids of all ages will enjoy this program, but it was designed with families ages 4 to 12 in mind.

What is included in my kit?

One kit is included with your registration. Your kit will include menorah and markers to decorate; one box of candles to last the entire Hanukkah holiday, dreidel, one bag of gelt, recipe to make your own latkes (potato pancakes, ingredients not included); and access to live, virtual event including instructions for all activities.

Holiday Cheers tickets do not include admission to Festival of Trees at the Indiana Historical Society. If you’d like to visit the exhibition during operating hours, you will need to purchase an advance admission ticket.

How do I safely receive get my kit?

You have two options to get your kit, which you can select upon purchase:

  • Pick-up your kit in the Welcome Center at the Indiana Historical Society (450 West Ohio Street, Indianapolis) Dec 1 to 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Dec 4 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Masks are required while in building.
  • Have your kit mailed for additional $10 per kit. Kits will be mailed by December 5.

What additional materials are needed to complete the program?

Nearly everything is included with your kit, with the exception of ingredients for lakes (potato pancakes). We will mark what isn’t included in your instruction booklet. You may need to provide your own scissors or find additional decorating materials from around your house.

Do I need one kit for each child in my family?

Each kit includes materials for one of each craft. Families can work alone or as a group, whichever works best. You may opt to purchase additional kits during registration.
