Genealogy 101: Your Roadmap to Success

Join local researcher Amber Oldenburg for an introduction to investigating your family history. During this informative class, learn about major record groups such as census, land, probate and court, and more. Oldenburg will also discuss the difference between original and derivative records, and guide you through the Genealogical Proof Standard and two major online databases – FamilySearch and Ancestry. If you are just getting started or need a refresher on best research practices and more, this session is for you.

Amber is owner and chief researcher at One Branch at a Time and is currently pursuing a degree in family history research from Brigham Young University-Idaho. She specializes in U.S. Midwest research with experience in German and British Isles records.
