Suffrage Centennial Block Party

We’re celebrating the 100th anniversary of women voting in Indiana! Join scholars, thinkers, artists, and our Hoosier community for a week of free talks, parties, workshops, happy hours, and fun. Online and in your own backyard.

Why Virtual? Why Now? Suffragists adapted to new technology, from pamphlets to press conferences to media blitzes, to convince Hoosiers that they deserved the right to vote. A century later we’re doing the same for the Suffrage Block Party. Join us virtually to culminate our year-long commemoration of women voting in Indiana with talks, parties, tours, workshops, and so much more.

How it Works: Over the week of Saturday August 29 to Friday September 4, we’ll have a variety of events – performances, tours, talks, conversations, workshops, porch parties and more – taking place over Zoom and streamed live over social media. There are even a few in-person events, when we could provide a safe, socially-distanced experience.

Grab a Toolkit: We’ve created FREE  limited-edition bags to get you ready to

party! Each kit will have everything you need to get started including an activity bookletssuffrage-themed swag, party favors, and more. Register here to reserve your toolkit for contactless pick-up at 7 sites across Indiana. (Limited quantities available. Two kits per household please. Kits must be reserved in advance and retrieved on the specified dates and times.)

Can’t make it to pick-up a toolkit? Download many of the included activities below:

Visit the Schedule of Events to Reserve your spot! Some events have limited space and require registration. Others will be live streamed over social media. Sign up for any and all events you’d like to explore.

Listen to the Sounds of Suffrage. We all have that empowering female anthem that gets us fired up and feeling confident. With our public Spotify playlist, add your favorite female empowerment anthem throughout the week and celebrate all the awesome things about women!
