How to Apply
Heritage Support Grant Applications
Applications are available only through the online grant portal. Hard copy (paper) applications will not be accepted.

- Returning grant portal users: Login to the Fluxx portal using your username and password.
- New applicants: Follow the link above and then click on “Take the Eligibility Quiz” at the lower right. If you meet the requirements, you will proceed to registration and will be asked to set up your organization profile. Once you have been verified, your username and password will be emailed to you.
Registered organizations will be assigned a coach from Local History Services staff who can provide guidance and consultation throughout the grant application process.*
*Please note that while Local History Services coaches are available to assist organizations throughout the grant application process, they are not part of the grant selection process. All grant applications will be evaluated by an external committee. The use of an LHS coach does not guarantee funding.

Apply for a grantGrants are available to Indiana organizations impacted by the weather events in August 2026. To apply, an organization must:
- Be incorporated in the State of Indiana as a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation;
- Reflect history as a significant component of its mission and/or propose a project that is clearly history focused* (such as salvage and conservation of historical collections); and
- Have an annual budget of less than $300,000.
* Please note: Structures will only be considered if they are primarily used to facilitate historical interpretation or house significant historical collections.
Rapid Response Heritage Support Grants are available in these categories:
- Immediate Stabilization: Emergency repairs to damaged buildings, electrical systems, and climate-control units to stabilize their environments and prevent further deterioration of collections;
- Collections Salvage and Conservation: Funding conservation to assist with the salvage of damaged books, archives, photographs, objects, etc.; and/or
- Damage Mitigation and Recovery: Funding for temporary storage and relocation of collections, replacement of equipment, and further needs for sufficient long-term recovery.

Funding is awarded through Project Grants, Mini Grants, and Impact Grants.
Mini Grants ($500 to $4,999)
- Mini Grant Cycle D – Applications due July 31, 2026 (This Deadline has Passed)
(Grant period: Oct. 1, 2026 to Aug. 31, 2027)
Project Grants ($5,000 to $50,000)
Grant period: Sept. 1, 2026 to Aug. 31, 2027
- Summary of Proposal due April 30, 2026 (This Deadline has Passed)
- Full Proposal (upon approval of Summary of Proposal) due June 30, 2026 (This Deadline has Passed)
Impact Grants ($50,000 to $100,000) – By Invitation Only
Grants from $50,000 to $100,000 are available to meet high-capacity needs. Applications for Impact Grants are by invitation only. For more information, contact your grant coach or email grants@indianahistory.org.
