New Name, More Content

July 23, 2018

Twitter. Instagram. Facebook. Oh My!

I spend the first hour of my day drinking coffee and checking social media for the newest articles on education, museums, history and the like. I seek other masters in their fields looking for more ways to empower educators, enhance learning across the state and normally find a few stories that also restore my faith in humanity.

I understand that most people – at least all educators – do not have an hour or so of their day to devote to perusing social media for professional development. Instead, we hope to collect the best of the best for you to find in one place!

(Drum roll please) Introducing…

@INHistoryEdu on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook!

If you follow @IndianaHistory, then you may already follow @NHDIndiana. If you do follow NHDI on social media, you won’t have to do a thing. We’re just changing the name and updating the look to complement the newly expanded content you will find! If you don’t already follow this account and are an educator, we hope you’ll follow this new handle for these and other resources:

  • National History Day in Indiana information, announcements and support
  • Statewide Professional Development opportunities
  • Destination Indiana Journeys
  • Collection highlights
  • Field trip information and photos
  • Behind-the-Scenes looks
  • Research tools and support
  • Special events at IHS
  • Books for your classroom and your “vacation time”
  • Educator resources – curriculum, fun facts and the Indiana Bicentennial Minute
  • Student resources Encouragement, empowerment and uplift
  • And more!

So whether you are a teacher, student, parent or Hoosier History Fanatic like myself, be sure to follow @INHistoryEdu. Now, back to my coffee-sipping and social media exploring.

Beth Whitaker is the coordinator of learning for the Indiana Historical Society. She is a devoted dog mom of two Cairns and a lover of all things Indianapolis.
