Admission is free on MLK Day. Explore the past and contribute to the future at no charge.
January 20 is a day to turn Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream into a reality. At the Indiana Historical Society, you can do exactly that. Follow in Dr. King’s footsteps of service as you design shopping bags for Charity Cares Clothing Closet. Collaborate with others to create a community mural. Travel back in time and experience Dr. King’s world-changing speeches in our theater. Then take a moment to engage with the interactive Wall of Reflection — connect to the past and inspire the future. Even the youngest of guests will be able to learn and reflect through additional activities in the History Lab. Activities will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Donations for the Charity Cares Clothing closest are encouraged. The highest needs are new socks and underwear in all sizes. Monetary donations are also accepted.
IHS’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration is presented by The Charlitta and Robin Winston Family Fund for African American History.
