Celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month with Hoosier Asian Celebrations at Indiana Historical Society

May 7, 2024
INDIANAPOLIS (May 7, 2024) – The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) commemorates Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with a variety of events, activities and celebrations throughout the month of May at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center.

For more than three weeks, visitors can celebrate Asian cultures through IHS’s traveling exhibit Be Heard: Asian Experiences in Indiana and with a display of cultural outfits and costumes representing multiple nations and regions of Asia on loan from several embassies in Chicago.

Additionally, a resource table will be present with an Asian Voices in Indiana curriculum guide, with information on accessing the digital exhibit and curriculum online, information on how to access Asian Voices and a list of books for all ages to learn more about Asian history and culture in Indiana and how to explore these topics at home.

To help kick off the nearly monthlong celebration, IHS is proud to host Asian American Alliance, Inc.’s (AAAI’s) 18th Asian Fest on Saturday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will feature live musical and dance performances, arts and hands-on activities, delicious food and drinks and an award ceremony for several partner organizations.
