An Interactive Journey Into Holocaust History
A new feature at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center will allow visitors to take advantage of advanced filming techniques to have inviting one-on-one conversations with Eva Kor – a Holocaust survivor and eyewitness to history.
On loan from CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center, USC Shoah Foundation’s Dimensions in Testimony allows visitors to converse with an interactive biography of Eva via a hologram-like projection. Guests can hear her personal testimony and ask questions that are of interest to them — learning more about her story in her own words.
Dimensions in Testimony is an initiative to record and display testimony in a way that will continue the dialogue between survivors of genocide and learners far into the future. Each specially recorded interview enables viewers to ask questions of the survivor and hear their stories in real-time conversation about topics like life before the war, hiding, experiences in concentration camps, life after the war, forgiveness, family, and more.
CANDLES is an acronym for Children of Auschwitz Nazi Deadly Lab Experiments Survivors. It was founded in 1984 as a nonprofit organization by Eva Mozes Kor with help from her twin sister, Miriam Mozes Zieger, to launch an effort to locate other surviving Mengele twins. As a result of their efforts, they were able to locate 122 individual Mengele twins living in 10 countries and four continents. The search for more twins continues to this day.
The feature is included with paid admission to the Indiana Historical Society. IHS members receive free admission.
