Indiana Historical Society’s Stardust Terrace Café by Jonathan Byrd’s Offers Special Holiday Menu

December 16, 2020

Looking for a sweet treat while out and about this holiday season? The Stardust Terrace Café by Jonathan Byrd’s at the Indiana Historical Society (IHS) is the perfect place to stop to enjoy a special seasonal menu of goodies and holiday beverages.

Named for Hoagy Carmichael’s most famous song, “Stardust,” the Stardust Terrace Café is now open with special holiday hours, offering an eclectic menu from Indiana’s own Jonathan Byrd’s.

The holiday menu includes iced sugar cookies, gingerbread men and women and other treats from Kim’s Cakery along with delicious made-in-house apple dumplings. The holiday beverages include specialty cocoas, apple cider and pumpkin spice chai tea lattes and festive espresso drinks. All beverages are also available with “holiday spirits.”

“The Stardust Terrace Café is the perfect location for lunch or a snack break while visiting the History Center. People are also welcome to stop by when strolling along the Central Canal,” said IHS President and CEO Jody Blankenship. “The holiday specialty menu items are fantastic, and the twinkling ceiling makes you feel as though you are dining under a starlit sky surrounded by beautifully-decorated trees and the holiday spirit.”

For more about the Stardust Terrace Café and to view the menu, visit indianahistory.org/visit/stardust-terrace-cafe/.

Holiday hours for the café are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., except for Friday, Dec. 18, when the café is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to accommodate IHS extended hours. The café is also open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 3 p.m.

Guests are invited to visit the café while taking in IHS’s Festival of Trees holiday exhibit, open now through January 9. This year’s Festival of Trees features a winter wonderland of 50 elaborately-decorated trees representing individuals, families and organizations from around Indiana.

Festival of Trees hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18 will have extended hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In order to ensure proper social distancing, advance tickets are required. IHS members can take advantage of their complimentary admission benefit by reserving their timed tickets online. Per CDC guidelines, all guests (except those under age 2) are required to provide and wear a cloth face covering or mask.

Festival of Trees is presented by The Salvation Army, with support from The Mothershead Foundation, OneAmerica, Citizens Energy Group and MacAllister Machinery, Inc.

“Life is a Gift” Tree is presented by Lake City Bank; Story Time with Santa is presented by Citizens Energy Group; Cole Porter Room Holiday Music and Virtual Singalong is presented by Old National Bank; and Festival of Trees Virtual Experience is presented by OneAmerica Financial Partners.
