Third Annual Underground Railroad Tour

SOLD OUT! Click here to sign up for an identical tour on March 28.

Join IHS Membership Manager Sarah Sankovitch and historian Jeannie Regan-Dinius of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources as we continue to explore the Underground Railroad in Indiana.

We’ll visit Eleutherian College in Lancaster, which was the first college in Indiana to admit students without regard to race or gender. Some of the college’s first trustees were among the most active participants in the Underground Railroad in and around Lancaster. In Madison, we’ll visit the historic Georgetown neighborhood – home to a thriving community of African-Americans during the tumultuous decades leading up to the Civil War.

Presentations will be made throughout the trip. Fees cover transportation via coach, admission fees, lunch and snacks.

Please consider registering early as space is limited to the first 45 participants per tour. The registration fee is $75 for IHS members and $125 for nonmembers (a one-year Individual membership is included). Registrations must be received by Feb. 28. Contact Sarah Sankovitch at (317) 234-2670 or Click here to download the registration form.
