The Snapshots of Saigon exhibit features photography from Mark A. Kurtz’s time serving in Vietnam, offering a Hoosier veteran’s view of daily life in Saigon. His images reveal the humanity of war, capturing moments of joy and sorrow among American GIs and Vietnamese civilians alike. They also show the Air Force base, city streets, street markets, temples, and people of Saigon. Decades later, Kurtz’s photographs provide an important record of this history, allowing us to connect with the past and those who came before us.
If you want to learn more about the photographs, letters, and newspaper clippings in this exhibit, explore the Mark A. and Karen B. Kurtz Collection at IHS’s William H. Smith Memorial Library.
