For more than 50 years, IHS has worked to publish indexes and research guides for primary source material. Today, it is easier than ever to find and uses these resources in your family history research.
Along with our biannual publication THG: Connections, we publish an online component called Online Connections. The articles that appear in Online Connections are rich with data and are often index-based information.
In addition to the Online Connections departments of Regional Sources and Stories, Family Records and Genealogy Across Indiana, there are also some larger works of primary source indexes that may help in your genealogy journey, such as Quaker Records and a name index to U.S. District Court Order Book, 1817–1833.

The initial order book of the U.S. District Court for the District of Indiana comprises the record of the first cases and proceedings from the court’s inception to 1833. It reveals the history of the organization of the court, listing the names of judges, attorneys, court clerks, justices of the peace, plaintiffs, defendants, and jurors. The presiding judge of the court during this period was Benjamin Parke.
Cases regarding land transactions and bankruptcies are recorded, along with a few naturalizations, criminal cases, and contempt and divorce proceedings. Some cases have
full descriptions, including settlements. Also cited is the work of Indian agent Benjamin Stickney, who dealt with people trading improperly with Native Americans.
