Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day at the Indiana Historical Society

April 21, 2025

The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) invites book lovers of all ages to enjoy and celebrate Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday, April 26, at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., guests are invited to explore the Basile History Market’s exciting new product lines and take advantage of incredible deals on a wide selection of books. Whether you’re passionate about sports history, military history, American heritage, or all things Indiana, you’ll find something to spark your interest on the shelves of this unique independent bookstore.

And there’s more — every visitor will receive a surprise prize, randomly selected from the following:

  • 10%, 20%, or 30% off their entire purchase of regularly priced books and merchandise
  • A free Indiana Historical Society membership
  • A complimentary book from a specially curated selection

Independent Bookstore Day is celebrated nationally on the last Saturday in April, supporting independent bookstores across the country online and in-store. Don’t miss this opportunity to support a local gem and bring home something truly special!

In search of Hoosier-inspired gifts? The Basile History Market is your go-to destination for meaningful, Indiana-themed items. Shoppers will discover an exceptional variety of locally inspired art, jewelry, literature, music, food and more—perfect for history lovers and gift-givers alike.

As an independent bookstore, the Basile History Market also offers custom ordering and can help you track down almost any book—even if it’s not currently in stock.
