
Conducted by the Indiana Council for the Social Studies with the Indiana Historical Society, this workshop is funded by the Library of Congress. In this workshop, educators will learn how to locate and use the Library of Congress and Indiana Historical Society resources while participating in hands-on activities. Learn techniques to guide your students so they can understand, evaluate and use primary sources with an emphasis on civil rights in order to be better-informed citizens.
This workshop will help civic-minded educators develop engaged citizens by:
• Improving inquiry-based teaching using the Library of Congress methodology
• Interacting with the free civics app Engaging Congress
• Learning about local primary sources
• Creating civil rights materials to share with colleagues
