Student Programs at Your Location
These exciting 60-minute programs meet Indiana social studies standards and are available all year. We'll bring history right to your door. Advance reservations are required. We recommend a maximum of 50 students per session.

Fees: Effective Sept. 1, 2009, $75 per session (includes materials), plus a mileage charge of $.50 per mile, round trip.

For students in grades four through 12:

Famous Hoosiers

Learn about the diverse number of notable people with ties to Indiana and play an exciting round of “Famous Hoosiers Bingo.”


Madam C.J. Walker

Discuss the life of famous black entrepreneur Madam C.J. Walker and participate in a team activity where students design their own hair-care product.


Indiana and the Civil War

Investigate key events in the Civil War, with an emphasis on Indiana’s troop contributions, and study letters from Hoosier soldiers.

 

Civil Rights in Indiana

Examine the civil rights movement in America and specifically Indiana. Students are divided into teams to participate in a mock discrimination court case complete with a judge and jury.


For students in grades four through six:

Indiana Statehood and Constitution

Students will create their own state constitution and bill of rights in this program introducing the history of the beginning of our state.


For students in grades four through 12:

Communication in World War II

Take a close look at two Hoosier journalists, reporter Ernie Pyle and photographer John Bushemi, while probing the broader context of the war. Students participate in a letter-writing activity and discuss censorship during the war.
