Printed Collections
Printed collections in the William Henry Smith Memorial Library include published books, pamphlets, microfilm, maps, sheet music, and printed ephemera. The collections cover a broad range of subjects and all time periods in Indiana and Midwestern history.

Strengths of the printed collections include:

Early American Exploration Railroad History
Civil War History Northwest Territory

Artifacts
Artifacts in the William Henry Smith Memorial Library consist of three-dimensional objects, mostly small in size. Many artifacts are related to or supplement collections within the IHS Library. The Indiana Historical Society does not collect large-scale, three-dimensional artifacts or actively collect other artifacts. Please see the IHS Collections Development & Acquisitions Policy for further information. For items of this nature, please also contact the Indiana State Museum at (317) 232-1637.
