HISTORICAL SKETCH

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources was established as an offshoot of the Department of Conservation. Functioning under a twelve-member Natural Resources Commission, it has a director appointed by the Governor, four deputy directors, and a full-time staff of more than 1500. It manages 14,000 acres of state forests, and provides forest management for over four million acres of public and private land.

"Right Here in Indiana" was a series of weekly press releases produced by the Department's bureau of public information and education in 1967-1968.
