The Council of 1816 was formed in 1999 to honor those donors who give
$1,000 of more each year to support the many efforts of the IHS. Each
year, entertaining programs are provided specifically for this group.
Members of the Council have enjoyed a number of events, including
the following: |
|
|
- A musical heritage concert
celebrating bluegrass artist Bill Monroe
- A premier of the Antiques Roadshow
television series
- A behind-the-scenes program
about the creation of a special exhibition
- The Annual Founders Day President's
Dinner

Funds given by the
Council represent nearly 50 percent of all funds raised annually from
individuals. These contributions support school programs, collection
acquisitions, library services, equipment needs, public programming
around the state and the preservation of historic materials. |

|
Membership in the Council of 1816 not only provides a significant
contribution to the IHS, but also gives the donor an IHS membership
at the Sustaining level. Your membership in the Council and the
IHS is good for one year, beginning the day we receive your gift.
Membership cards and information will be sent to you soon after
your gift is received. |
