Located inside the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, the William Henry Smith Memorial Library houses an abundance of unique resources. The Library is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Please note that the library will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 26th and 27th, as well as December 24th, 25th, 26th and 31st, and January 1st and 2nd. The Library will be open on Saturday, November 28th. The IHS Collections and Library both preserve and make accessible one of the largest archival repositories of manuscript, printed and visual materials on the history of Indiana and the Old Northwest, including more than:

  • 37,000 digital images online (33 collections)
  • 5,000 processed manuscript collections
  • 1,100 cataloged maps
  • 600 broadsides
  • 14,000 pieces of sheet music
  • 1.6 million photographs (500 visual collections)
  • 45,000 cataloged printed items (books, pamphlets, etc.)
  • 3,300 artifacts
  • 60 paintings
